Terms and Conditions
The short version: Bao is a training guide, not medical advice. Listen to your body, check with a GP if you're unsure, and don't misuse it.
About these terms
These terms are between you and Sam Tate, who makes and runs Bao Run (“we”). By creating an account you agree to them. You can contact us at hello@runwithbao.app.
Bao isn't medical advice
Bao builds training plans from general principles and what you tell it. It doesn't know your medical history, can't examine you, and isn't a doctor, physiotherapist or qualified coach. Its suggestions, including recovery suggestions based on heart rate or sleep, are not medical advice.
- Check with a GP before starting if you have a heart or lung condition, high blood pressure, diabetes, are pregnant, are recovering from injury or illness, or haven't exercised for a long time.
- Stop and get help if you feel chest pain, faintness, unusual breathlessness or sharp pain.
- You decide what to run. If a session feels wrong, do less, or nothing.
Your account
- You need to be 16 or over.
- Keep access to your email address safe: it's how you sign in.
- One account per person, please.
- You can delete your account at any time, from the app.
Fair use
Don't try to break, overload, copy or resell the service, get into other people's accounts, or use it for anything unlawful. If you do, we may suspend or close your account.
Your data and content
Your runs, notes and data stay yours. You let us store and process them only to run Bao for you, as the privacy policy describes.
Other services
If you connect Strava, Health Connect, Gadgetbridge or a watch, their own terms apply to them too. We're not responsible for those services, or for data once it reaches them.
Changes
Bao is a young app. Features may change, appear or go away, and there may be bugs. We'll do our best to keep it running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available.
Couch to 5K is free and we intend to keep it that way. If we add paid plans, we'll tell you the price and terms before you pay anything, and nothing you've used for free will start costing money without your agreement.
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
Our responsibility to you
We provide Bao with reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for losses we couldn't reasonably have foreseen, for injuries that come from training choices you make, or for problems caused by things outside our control. Nothing here limits anything that can't be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
The law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
